Nelly Korda is a strong favorite to win the Chevron Championship, having finished no worse than second in her first four events of the season. Historically, she is among only three players since 1980 to achieve such a start.

It is major championship week in the world of professional golf by way of the Chevron Championship. Time will tell who ultimately earns the first major of the season across the LPGA Tour, but there are consensus favorites as there always are.
Interestingly there is also a historical pattern emerging that favors one specific player. Nelly Korda, who won the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions to start the year, has finished no worse than second in all four events that she has teed it up in. Quite impressive to say the least.
The ever-knowing Justin Ray shared that this makes Nelly the third player ever since 1980 to begin the season with at least four finishes of first or second. That bodes well for the first major of the year.
Ray noted that the other two players who pulled this feat off, Karrie Webb and Annika Sorenstam, each won the first major championship of their respective seasons. This would suggest that Nelly is going to emerge victorious this week in Houston.
Korda is a two-time major champion as is and has already won the Chevron Championship. Nelly won the event in 2024 when it was also in Houston, but at that time it was held at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands where now it is held at Memorial Park.
Can Nelly pull this off? It would certainly be foolish to bet against her.
We will see.
