Everyone expected the Kansas City Chiefs to take a wide receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft.
They did it with the No. 176 overall pick on Saturday late in the fifth round: Cyrus Allen out of Cincinnati.
Allen is a 5-foot-11 wideout originally from New Orleans -- he spent his college career at Louisiana Tech and Texas A&M before Cincy.
In 2025, Allen had 51 catches for 674 yards and 13 touchdowns.

He ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
Now, he joins Patrick Mahomes and will try to break into the lineup.

The Chiefs currently have Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice atop their WR depth chart.
They also have Tyquan Thornton and Jalen Royals.
The latter two wouldn't hold off Allen if he proves he's ready.
He's a smaller guy, so he might make more sense to battle with Royals, who was a fourth-round pick last year.
The Chiefs let JuJu Smith-Schuster and Hollywood Brown leave this offseason, so there's definitely opportunity here for Allen.
