He is now a two-time Masters winner and a six-time major champion.
Life must be sweet for McIlroy. However, he will soon be facing somewhat of a blow when he receives his tax-billā¦
Nobody should feel sorry for McIlroy.
He is said to be worth around $330 million and that net worth will undoubtedly grow exponentially over the next decade or so.
Still, though, the amount of money he will have to part with from his Masters paycheck must still be a bit of a sickener for him.

According to the US Mirror, McIlroy had to pay a combination of Federal and Georgia State tax after his Masters victory.

It was claimed that all players at The Masters in 2026 were subject to a ācombined tax rate of 41.99 percentā.
As a result, McIlroy will have to pay $1.9 million in tax out of the $4.5 million winnings he received from his Masters triumph.
That really is an extortionate fee but donāt worry, the 36-year-old Northern Irishman can easily afford it!
Interestingly, whatever money the players earn at the Cadillac Championship next week at Trump National Doral will be almost entirely all theirs to keep.
Thatās because the tournament will be held in Miami, and Florida is one of the few states which does not impose income tax regulations.
The players who compete in tournaments in Florida will have to pay a Federal tax on their winnings, however.
Of course, that is why so many of the best golfers in the world, and indeed the wealthiest athletes in general, live in the Sunshine State.
Rory McIlroy, who resides in Jupiter, is one of them, along with the likes of Tiger Woods, Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas.
Texas is another state with no income tax laws, with the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth calling the Lone Star State their home.
The thing is, though, golfers are taxed on their earnings specific to which state they win money in, hence why Rory McIlroy will have such a huge bill to foot after his Masters victory.
