Later this evening, the 2026 NFL Draft finally kicks off. All those weeks of seemingly endless mock drafts will be put to the test to see who was right and who was wrong.
The Buffalo Bills are scheduled to pick 26th overall in Round 1, and a consensus doesnāt exist. This will be the first draft since 2018 without Sean McDermott as head coach, and there are holes on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Wide receiver is still a glaring need on this football team and Buffalo is still searching for a true nose tackle to anchor the defense. Thatās before even mentioning safety and linebacker as areas in need of upgrades.
There are a few well-known names people pay attention to when doing their research on mock drafts. From NFL.com, folks pay attention to Daniel Jeremiah and Peter Schrager. Over at ESPN thereās Mel Kiper, and of course now-former ESPN analyst Todd McShay.
Going back to 2017 when McDermott took over as head coach, those four analysts have combined for just three correct guesses for the Bills in their final mock before the draft. Jeremiah, McShay, and Schrager all had Buffalo selecting Josh Allen with their first selection, but no one had the team also grabbing Tremaine Edmunds.
Since then, only one of them have correctly predicted who the Bills were going to select in the first round. That was when Kiper predicted Buffalo would grab cornerback Kaiir Elam in Round 1, and then he accurately predicted the Maxwell Hairston pick this past season.
