It's more crowded after using a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on Penn State running back Kaytron Allen.
It's a fascinating fit.
Allen was part of a two-headed backfield with the Nittany Lions alongside Nicholas Singleton, who was a fifth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans.
He knows what it takes to play alongside other good backs. He might get a chance to do so again.

This will be a hard one to predict and one that we'll have to watch in the preseason.

This offseason, Washington added both Rachaad White and Jerome Ford in free agency.
They also return Jeremy McNichols, who was also a trustworthy player for the Commanders in 2025.
So what does Allen do? He does his best to make the team, for starters.

White and Ford are a bit redundant as guys who catch passes. JCM is the opposite, a run-only guy. McNichols can do a bit of everything.
Allen will have to outplay McNichols and Ford in training camp, it seems. The Commanders picked him, so they believe he can.
