Japanese sponsors are significantly contributing to the Los Angeles Dodgers' success, particularly through the influence of stars like Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. This partnership highlights the growing connection between Japanese fans and MLB.

Monday is Japanese Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium, and the focus on the field will be on Japanese stars like Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
But for those stars and fellow Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki, the impact off the field is just as significant.
Helping fund the Los Angeles Dodgersâ dynasty are numerous new sponsors, many of them Japanese companies who saw an opportunity when many of Japanâs citizens followed their national heroes to Major League Baseball.
Perhaps the most prominent and, to a degree, controversial sponsor is the Japanese company Uniqlo, which secured naming rights to the field.
Some fans havenât fully embraced the newly renamed Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium, but whether or not the Dodgers faithful like the change, the company has certainly grown its profile this season.
Japanese sponsors are funding the Dodgers' dynasty by capitalizing on the popularity of Japanese stars in MLB, enhancing the team's financial backing.
Key Japanese players impacting the Dodgers include Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Roki Sasaki, who have drawn significant attention from fans and sponsors.
Japanese Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium celebrates Japanese culture and features prominent Japanese players, fostering a connection between the team and its Japanese fanbase.

And in exchange, the Dodgers have secured millions of dollars to help strengthen the roster and improve Dodger Stadium. According to reports, the five-year deal is worth $125 million.
Mike Mazzeo of the Sports Business Journal said late in 2025 â before the Uniqlo deal was announced â that the Dodgers had 20 Japanese sponsors such as Hakkaisan Brewery and Ito En.
That season, the Dodgers became the first North American sports team to pass $200 million in annual sponsorship revenue, which comes in handy when putting together one of the most expensive rosters in the sport.
After all, the contract for Ohtani alone is $700 million, though much of that is deferred.
With those contract deferrals, the Dodgers get to feature Ohtani, perhaps the greatest player in the sportâs history, for $2 million per year while using the rest of their money to build a championship team around him.
Two World Series titles in a row (and possibly a third on the way) indicate that strategy is working.
While Ohtani waits for 2034, when heâs due $68 million per year for a decade, heâs taking advantage of his success on the field, smashing records while earning as much as $125 million per year in endorsements.
So if youâre at Dodger Stadium Monday night, enjoy the food, music and other touches of Japanese culture in Chavez Ravine. That connection is a huge part of the Dodgersâ success on and off the field.
