Alabama State flag football will compete in the inaugural Fiesta Bowl Flag Football Classic at Arizona State University on April 18-19. The tournament features eight Division I colleges, including notable Power Four schools.

It'll be a journey out west for Alabama State flag football this weekend, as the Hornets are set to take part in the inaugural Fiesta Bowl Flag Football Classic.
The tournament will be played at Arizona State University over the course of two days on April 18-19. Pool play will begin on Saturday, April 18 to determine seeding. Single-elimination bracket will follow on Sunday, April 19.
Eight Division I colleges were selected to participate in what will be the biggest flag football tournament in Division I. Power Four schools like Florida, Georgia, Arizona State and USC will all participate in the tournament. The NCAA announced in Jan. 2026 that flag football was added to its Emerging Sports for Women program, with the goal to eventually make the sport a championship sport at the Division I level.
Alabama State flag football has been a part of history when it comes to flag football at the Division I level. The Hornets were the first Division I school to make flag football a varsity sport, and offered the first Division I scholarship to trailblazer Ki'lolo Westerlund.
Fans can watch pool play games and the quarterfinal rounds of the Fiesta Flag Football Classic on the Fiesta Sports Foundation website here.
The semifinal and championship game will be televised nationally on starting at 2:30 p.m. CT for the semifinals, and 5 p.m. CT for the championship round.
The Fiesta Bowl Flag Football Classic is scheduled for April 18-19.
