Eddie Howe doubts Tino Livramento will return to Newcastle United this season due to a thigh injury. This raises concerns about Livramento's chances of being selected for the England World Cup squad.
Howe casts doubt on Livramento’s World Cup hopes
Eddie Howe has said he does not expect Tino Livramento to return for Newcastle United before the end of the season.
The 23-year-old has missed Newcastle’s last two games with a thigh problem. Howe has confirmed that the full-back is making good progress and has returned to the grass, but said it’s unlikely that Livramento will play before the end of the Premier League season.
That assessment makes Livramento’s chances of making the England squad appear slim, particularly given his injury-impacted campaign.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, ahead of Newcastle’s trip to face Nottingham Forest this weekend, Howe provided an update on the defender.
“Tino’s doing well. He’s really improving. He’s back running again. He’s on the grass,” he said.
“I don’t think he’ll be back this season. I think we could possibly push him maybe for the Fulham game but I think that would be silly really on his behalf.
“I think let’s let him recover and get a good summer behind him.”
