Three players who had outstanding senior seasons in the Lackawanna Football Conference were added to the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star games.
Running back Isaac Ryon, last season’s Times-Tribune Offensive Player of the Year, and linebacker Colin Owens were named to the East roster for the Small-School game. The Lackawanna Trail standouts replace Scranton Prep athlete Will McPartland and Lakeland lineman Weston Loomis, who withdrew from the game.
Wallenpaupack linebacker Logan Caruso was added to the East roster for the Large School all-star game.
The East-West Small School game is May 17 at 12 p.m., and the Large School game is at 5 p.m. at Cumberland Valley High School’s Chapman Field in Mechanicsburg.
Ryon, the Pennsylvania Football Writers Class 1A Player of the Year, ran for an LIAA-record 2,876 yards on 201 carries and 49 touchdowns. He set LIAA records for touchdowns in a season (54) and points in a season (354). The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder set a school record with 370 yards rushing in a game against Riverside. He also ran for 305 yards in a win over Mid Valley and 319 yards in a win over Tri-Valley. Ryon finished his career with a school-record 4,969 yards rushing, which ranks ninth in LIAA history.
Owens, a standout as a linebacker and guard, finished second on the team with 78 total tackles and had five tackles for loss. The 6-1, 220-pounder, who has committed to play at Misericordia University, had two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery on a team that won the LFC Division III and District 2 Class 1A championships.
The two Lions will join teammate and linebacker Tyler Jervis, Lakeland quarterback David Naniewicz, Berwick defensive lineman JJ Leonard and Wyoming Area lineman Max Getzie on the East roster. Former Western Wayne coach Shane Grodack and Hanover Area coach Eric Richardson are assistant coaches for the East.
Caruso, a 5-10, 190-pound senior, had 68 total tackles and an interception while helping Wallenpaupack win an Eastern Conference Class 4A playoff title over Honesdale.
He and North Pocono lineman Dylan Caster, a 6-8, 315-pound senior, and Dallas coach Rich Mannello, an assistant for the East, are the District 2 representatives in the Big School game.
Dunmore coach Kevin McHale was selected to serve as an assistant coach for the 2027 PSFCA East-West Small School game.
Dippre to host camp
New England Patriots tight end CJ Dippre, a Lakeland graduate, will host a youth football camp June 23 at Riverfront Sports Complex, West Olive Street in Scranton.
