Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike has vowed to draw strength from the clubâs supporters as he faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after rupturing his Achilles tendon, an injury that will see him miss this summerâs World Cup.
The 23-year-old described the setback as "unfair" but expressed gratitude for the backing of the Anfield faithful.
Ekitike sustained the season-ending injury during Tuesdayâs Champions League defeat by PSG at Anfield, forcing him to be stretchered off the pitch after just 31 minutes.
The severity of the issue was later confirmed by scans, ruling him out for the remainder of the club season and Franceâs World Cup campaign.
Posting a poignant message on X alongside a picture from the Anfield turf, Ekitike addressed fans directly: "Itâs hard, maybe even unfair. But Iâm grateful this is happening to me here, among you. Iâm not alone.
