āI did some bad thingsā ā Chelsea star Garnacho opens up on Man Utd exit
Alejandro Garnacho says that the manner of his Manchester United exit hurt, admitting that he did āsome bad thingsā before joining Chelsea last summer.
The winger joined the Blues for a £40 million transfer fee with a ten per cent sell-on clause last August after falling out with former manager Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho was last year pictured wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashfordās name on the back and described Unitedās season as ās**tā after losing the UEFA Europa League final to Spurs.
Amorim reportedly told the 21-year to find a new club at the end of last season and made him train separately from the squad in pre-season.
In an interview with TNT Sports this week, Garnacho suggested he regretted the way in which he left Old Trafford.
āMaybe yes, because I loved that club,ā he said. āThey gave me the confidence from the start. From Spain, to bring me to the academy, then they bring me to the first team. So it was like four or five years, and amazing love from everyone.ā
When asked where it started to go wrong at United, Garnacho responded: āNothing really went wrong. Sometimes different moments in life⦠I remember it was the last six months I was just starting to not really be playing like before for Manchester United, (when I had previously been) playing everything, every minute.

āI started to be on the bench ā itās not a bad thing, I was only 20 years old ā but in my mind it was like, āI have to play every gameā. I started to do some ā maybe on me also ā bad things. But yes, it was just this moment in life and sometimes you have to make decisions and I am really proud to be here (Chelsea)Ā and still in the Premier League at a club like this. Everyone knows the team we have and the things we can do.
āSometimes, we have better moments or worse moments, I am proud to be here but with United, I have nothing wrong to say about the club, no one in the club or the team-mates. Itās just a moment in life that changes and life continues. I have no regrets.ā
āFrom the fans, the stadium, everything was really good. Itās just sometimes you have to change for the good of your life or the next steps. I only have good memories of Man Utd.ā
