The Los Angeles Lakers may look for a new center after Deandre Ayton's inconsistent performance. NBA reporter Jovan Buha doubts a reunion with former player Anthony Davis due to his injury history and the recent nature of his trade.
The Los Angeles Lakers signed Deandre Ayton as their starting center last offseason, but after an inconsistent year from him, the team could once again explore the big men market this summer. One notable name that has surfaced is 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis, who played for the Lakers from 2019 to 2025 and helped the franchise win the 2020 championship in the Orlando Bubble. However, a reunion does not seem likely. "I don't see it," NBA reporter Jovan Buha said on his podcast. "I think time needs to pass for some of the wounds to heal with the situation. I think it's still relatively fresh [since the trade happened], at least from the AD side. "Also, I think that's a massive risk [for the Lakers] with just his injury history," Buha added. "I mean, he has not been healthy since the trade, so looking at the contract plus the injury history, I would be pretty skeptical of that."
