'I've been so fearful': Kyle Jamieson admits fear of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Delhi Capitals pacer Kyle Jamieson admitted he felt an unusual sense of fear while facing teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, as DC secured a commanding seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday.

KL Rahul led a dominant chase as Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, successfully hunting down 226 with five balls to spare.

Rahul anchored the innings with a composed 75 off 40 balls, while Pathum Nissanka set the tone early with a rapid 62 off 33. The pair’s 110-run opening stand put Delhi firmly in control. Contributions from Nitish Rana (33 off 17) and an unbeaten finishing stand between Ashutosh Sharma and Tristan Stubbs ensured a smooth chase.

Earlier, Riyan Parag starred for Rajasthan with a superb 90 off 50 after they slipped to 12/2. He shared a crucial 102-run partnership with Dhruv Jurel (42), helping Royals post 225/6. However, on a batting-friendly pitch, their total proved insufficient as Delhi completed a second successive successful 225+ chase at the venue within a week.

After the win Jamieson reflected on the challenge posed by the 15-year-old, Jamieson revealed that despite thorough planning, the youngster’s composure made him a daunting opponent.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been so fearful of a 15-year-old kid in my life. We had done our planning going into the game, and it was nice to see it come off,” Jamieson said in a video shared by the IPL.

Jamieson, however, emphasized the importance of early breakthroughs with the new ball.

“For most teams, it’s about their top two getting off to a flyer. Starkey got one with a high full toss, and I got one with a yorker. It was nice to get those early wickets and stem the flow in the powerplay.”

He also spoke highly of sharing the new ball with fellow left-arm quick Mitchell Starc, calling it a valuable experience.

“He’s world-class. Having someone like him in the squad is a huge benefit. It came at the right time for us, and it’s pretty surreal to share the new ball with him.”

While Jamieson managed to dismiss Sooryavanshi, his outing proved expensive, conceding 48 runs in four overs. In contrast, Starc delivered a strong performance on return, picking up three wickets for 40 runs.
