Ibrahima Konaté edging closer to new Liverpool contract
France international centre-back Ibrahima Konaté (26) is close to agreeing a new contract with Liverpool, according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. The former Sochaux Academy graduate has entered the final months of the five-year deal he signed with Liverpool back in 2021 when he joined the Reds from RB Leipzig. Since then, Konaté won the Premier League, the FA Cup and a couple of Carabao Cups.
The outlet understands that no final agreement has been reached between Konaté and Liverpool, but a contract extension is now considered likely. A four-year contract – possibly a five-year deal – is in the works, and further talks are expected to take place after Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final against PSG.
The finer details that still need ironing out are the performance-related add-ons. RMC Sportadds that both Liverpool and Konaté are keen to extend their partnership, as long as all conditions are met.
