The New York Jets may not find a sure thing in the 2026 NFL Draft at the most important position in sports.
That doesn't mean they shouldn't draft a quarterback at some point, though. It's probably worth continuing to take swings to see if they connect.
But in this particular draft class, who could that be?
Alabama's Ty Simpson is considered QB2 after first overall pick Fernando Mendoza.

Then there are the likes of Drew Allar, Carson Beck, Garrett Nussmeier, Cole Payton, Taylen Green and more.
It's really anyone's guess where any of those guys are drafted, but one apparently has caught the Jets' eyes.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler wrote this in a new article late Wednesday: "My potential sleeper QB for the Jets in the middle rounds isĀ Carson BeckĀ (Miami)."
The top quarterback prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft is Fernando Mendoza.
The Jets may draft a quarterback to improve their chances of finding a franchise player at the most critical position.
Ty Simpson is considered a sleeper pick due to his potential to be a strong quarterback option after Mendoza in the draft.

That'd be a fascinating selection. Beck has been praised in the pre-draft process for his overall football knowledge. He isn't viewed as having massive physical traits, but he's certainly played a lot of winning football.
Beck began his college career at Georgia before playing his final season with the Miami Hurricanes, for whom he reached the national title game before falling to Mendoza and the Hoosiers.
If the Jets picked Beck, he could watch and learn behind Geno Smith for a while, but there'd likely be a chance for him to start later in the season as a rookie.
It wouldn't stop the Jets from picking a first-round QB next year if the right one is available. But it's one more chance for New York to potentially solve a tough position to solve.
