Illinois athletes finish first at Illini Deca-Jam
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Illini Deca-Jam track and field meet wrapped up on Saturday, April 11, at Demirjian Park.
Multiple Illinois athletes finished atop the podium, including Urbana native Jackson Gilbert in the 800m run, while Grace Kombetto earned the fourth-fastest time in school history to take first in the event (2:05.07).
Many athletes hailing from the WCIA 3 viewing area were also in the field. Centennial grad Shawn Lacy took first in the 100m dash for EIU.
Also for the Illini, Jane Roosimagi set a new school record with a javelin toss of 52.65m, a record that had stood since 1989.
