Mossman immediately highlighted what makes Toure unique. “He’s interesting and he’s a bit different than the other ones that we’re going to talk about,” he said, before explaining his natural role as “a left winger and he’s left footed.”

This combination shapes his output. Unlike inverted forwards, Toure’s game is built around direct wide play. Mossman described it vividly, saying he “just kind of hits the sprint boost, blows by his defender, and then finds a cross.”

The effectiveness of that approach is reflected in the data. “He’s really accurate,” Mossman added, pointing out that Toure produces “one of the highest open play expected assist marks on a per 90 basis, especially from crosses in the Bundesliga.”

Toure’s athleticism is another major selling point. Mossman labelled him “a road runner he’s incredibly fast,” underlining his elite speed metrics. This pace is not just cosmetic, it drives his overall contribution.

“He makes really good runs in behind,” Mossman explained, noting how those movements “stretch defences.” Crucially, this type of work often goes unnoticed in traditional metrics. As he put it, “it’s not really going to show up in stats… but it’s something that he can offer.”

That ability to create space for others aligns with Liverpool’s broader attacking needs. His running opens channels for teammates and adds a vertical threat that can disrupt defensive structures.
