While recovering from a right ankle injury, Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White said that forward Monique Billings did not practice on Monday.
"The only update is that she didn't practice today," White said. "We're going to keep evaluating it day by day, but knowing we have the full week, we'll give her an opportunity to make sure that she's as close to 100% as possible before we throw her out there."
Billings injured her ankle Saturday in the first quarter of the Fever's preseason finale against the Nigerian National Team after she landed on an opponent's foot while battling for a rebound. She would soon be ruled out for the remainder of the game by the medical staff.
The former UCLA Bruin signed a two-year, $1.6 million contract with the Fever in free agency and is projected to earn the starting role at power forward for Indiana this season. If she is unable to play on Saturday, backup Myisha Hines-Allen will likely get the majority of the minutes at that position.
The Fever open up the 2026 WNBA regular season against the Dallas Wings on May 9 from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with the game scheduled to tip off at noon CT and broadcast nationally on ABC.
