Indiana men’s basketball landed its fifth transfer portal commitment of the offseason and second in the frontcourt on Wednesday when former Alabama forward Aiden Sherrell signaled his intentions to join the Hoosiers for the 2025-26 season, per reporting from Joe Tipton of On3.
Sherrell is a rising junior who spent the first two seasons of his college career at Alabama. He’s originally from Detroit and was rated as a 5-star prospect in the class of 2024 by the 247Sports composite, ranking in as the fifth highest-rated center and 23rd highest-rated prospect overall in the class.
Sherrell made a substantial leap in production this past season after coming off of the bench as a freshman in 2024-25. He started in all 32 of Alabama’s games in 2025-26, averaging 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 52.9% from the field and 33.8% from 3-point range.
Landing Sherrell is a substantial upgrade for the Hoosiers’ frontcourt, one of the weaker parts of Darian DeVries’ first roster, though it’s worth noting that the 6’11” Sherrell may be more of an option at power forward rather than center with Indiana looking for more size.
Aiden Sherrell averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists while shooting 52.9% from the field and 33.8% from 3-point range during the 2025-26 season.
Aiden Sherrell transferred to Indiana as part of the offseason transfer portal movement, seeking new opportunities and playing time after a successful season at Alabama.
Aiden Sherrell's commitment adds depth to Indiana's frontcourt, being their second transfer addition in that position, and enhances their overall competitiveness for the upcoming season.
