After securing the talents of rising sophomore guard Ty'Reek Coleman through the transfer portal on April 17, Iowa basketball has its second commitment in as many days by landing former Saint Mary's center Andrew McKeever.
The towering 7-foot-3, 275-pounder from Livermore, Calif., averaged 8.2 points on 50% of his field goal attempts and shot 62.8% from the free throw line, to go along with 9.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in around 23 minutes per contest across 10 starts in 33 games played this past season as a redshirt sophomore for the Gaels, who were an NCAA Tournament team like the Iowa Hawkeyes.
While Iowa certainly surprised many across the nation, the Hawkeyes lacked a legitimate height advantage against Big Ten foes like Michigan, Michigan State, and Illinois. With McKeever in the fold, that problem is solved, and it gives head coach Ben McCollum a dominant rim protector with two years of eligibility remaining.
McKeever now gives Iowa three centers entering the 2026-27 season, alongside senior Cameron Manyawu and sophomore Trevin Jirak.
