After attending minicamp with the Washington Commanders, former Iowa football kicker Drew Stevens has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the franchise.
The native of North Augusta, S.C., carved out quite a career for the Iowa Hawkeyes, where he appeared in 53 games, going 76-for-95 on field goal attempts (most in program history) with a long of 58 yards.
In terms of his accuracy from various distances, Stevens was 28-for-29 from 20-29 yards, 16-for-18 from 30-39 yards, 20-for-29 from 40-49 yards, and 12-for-19 from beyond 50 yards. Additionally, he was 124-for-126 on extra point attempts.
While initially invited to minicamp on a try-out basis, the UDFA deal now confirms him a spot on the Commanders organizational roster.
Whether Stevens can make it to Washington's 53-man roster for the upcoming season is still undetermined, but his chances are clearly trending upwards with the recent contract agreement.
