Speaking with reporters at the Polk County I-Club event on Wednesday night, Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz said that redshirt senior tight end Addison Ostrenga should be fully healed from injury by June.
Ostrenga caught just one pass for eight yards last season before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury in Iowa's season-opener. But, Ostrenga has been a key piece at tight end for the Hawkeyes for several years, collecting three touchdowns on 48 receptions for 320 yards throughout his career.
âHe should be full-speed in June. That's kind of been the target. He hasn't done anything with the team at all, but he's out there working and rehabbing, running, cutting, doing things that are really encouraging. But, the idea was, yeah, if we could have him ready at the start of June, that would be great. We expect him to be doing everything like the rest of the guys when the summer program starts," Ferentz said.
A 6-foot-4, 248-pound tight end out of Sun Prairie, Wis., Ostrenga was a three-star signee and ranked as the No. 11 player out of Wisconsin in the 2022 class, per 247Sports.
Ostrenga figures to form one of the Big Ten's better tight end duos alongside DJ Vonnahme. Vonnahme, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound in-state tight end, caught 29 passes for 434 yards and three touchdowns.
