EFL reveal 'Spygate' hearing timescale
Southampton's fate in the Championship play-offs hangs in the balance as EFL hearing is set for May 19.
Sunil Gavaskar praised Virat Kohli after his record-breaking century in IPL 2026, emphasizing that the old generation of players still excels. Kohli's performance included becoming the first Indian to score 10 T20 centuries and the fastest to reach 14,000 T20 runs.
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar showered praise on Virat Kohli after the RCB star’s record-breaking century in Raipur, saying that while discussions continue around the rise of the new generation of power-hitters, Kohli has once again proved that the “old generation is still the best.”
Virat Kohli produced a stunning comeback after back-to-back ducks, and perhaps what made it even more special was that it came in a chase, something Kohli has built his legacy around in world cricket. The RCB superstar responded in the most Virat Kohli fashion possible, smashing his ninth IPL century to guide Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a memorable chase of 193 against Kolkata Knight Riders in Raipur. The knock turned into another historic milestone in Kohli’s legendary career as he became the first Indian batter to score 10 T20 centuries and also the fastest player in cricket history to complete 14,000 T20 runs.
Speaking on Star Sports’ JioStar Cricket Live, Sunil Gavaskar highlighted Kohli’s unmatched ability while chasing targets and explained why his greatness goes beyond just power-hitting.
“Virat Kohli knows how to construct a chase better than most players in world cricket. What he has achieved and the way he goes about his innings will take a very long time for anyone to match,” Gavaskar said.
"Virat Kohli was absolutely outstanding against KKR. He knows how to construct a chase better than most. When it comes to T20 centuries, he is third on the list with 10, behind Chris Gayle and Babar Azam. But he is the fastest to 14,000 T20 runs and has nine IPL hundreds. Records are there to be broken, but it will take a very long time for anyone to match what Kohli keeps delivering, game after game, season after season," Gavaskar added.
"While everyone was talking about this being the season of 'Gen Next', Kohli showed he is still around. He silenced the doubters with a century and moved to third in the Orange Cap race. He proved that the old generation is still the best. Even though the young stars are taking centre stage, the experienced greats are not done yet. This hundred from Virat Kohli was one of those special moments that remind us of his greatness," he signed off.
