However, there has been chatter of a move this summer, and not necessarily back home to Brazil.
Reports in Italy have suggested that not only are Juventus interested in a move for Alisson this summer, but that Alisson is interested in the move as well, and has already given his blessing to the possibility of leaving Anfield at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
According to Italian transfer journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Alisson is interested in the possibility of a move to Juventus.
However, Juventus have also reportedly angered Liverpool in their negotiations over the Brazilian goalkeeper. Italian publication Calciomercato first reported that Juve were attempting to negotiate down Liverpool's transfer fee demand of around €10 million, even asking to secure Alisson on a free transfer.
However, the report also states that Liverpool were "irritated" by this request, as they have triggered a one-year option in Alisson's contract tying him to Anfield until the summer of 2027, and believe a fee should be paid to cancel it early.
At this point, there isn't likely to be clarity on Alisson's immediate future until the World Cup concludes, with the Brazilian expected to be starting in goal for his country this summer.
Having joined Liverpool in the summer of 2018, 33-year-old Alisson last signed a contract extension in August of 2021, tying him to the club for five more years.
With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2026, Liverpool triggered an option in his deal to see him stay for one more season, through the summer of 2027.
Reports claim that Alisson earns around £150,000 (€173,500/$202,170) per week on his current Liverpool contract.
Liverpool secured the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer of 2024. At the time, Mamardashvili was coming off an outstanding performance at Euro 2024, and it was assumed that the Georgia international would be the heir apparent to Alisson in goal for the Reds.
However, since joining Liverpool, Mamardashvili has sowed doubts about his capabilities as the full-time goalkeeper for Liverpool. He struggled to recreate his 2023/24 form while on loan back at Valencia the following season, and since joining Liverpool full-time he has looked shaky at times when deployed in place of an injured Alisson.
So, should Alisson depart, there are questions about whether the club should hand the 25-year-old the keys to the starting job, or if they should look elsewhere for his permanent replacement.
Most notably, James Trafford of Manchester Cityhas been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks. It seems as if there is more to come in this regard as the rest of the season plays out and the summer takes shape.
