Ayo Dosunmu is listed as questionable for Game 6 against the Denver Nuggets due to right calf soreness. His potential absence comes as the Timberwolves lead the series 3-2 and seek to advance to the next round.
In taking a 3-2 first-round series lead over the Denver Nuggets, one of the Minnesota Timberwolves' bright spots has been reserve guard Ayo Dosunmu. After Minnesota's starting backcourt, Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo, went down to injury in Game 4 of this playoff matchup, Dosunmu dropped one of the most efficient 43-point performances in NBA postseason history.
WEIRD COINCIDENCE: An eerie connection between this jersey number and all the NBA Achilles injuries lately.
Ahead of Thursday night's pivotal Game 6, though, Dosunmu seems to have fallen victim to the Timberwolves' mid-series injury bug.
On Thursday morning, Dosunmu was a late addition to the Timberwolves' injury report with what is described as right calf soreness. Considering the unfortunate timing of the update, there might be a real chance Dosunmu doesn't play as the Timberwolves try to win and advance to the second round. Often, late additions to injury reports are a sign of dubious game status. For example, as he contends with calf tightness, Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon was a same-day addition to Denver's injury report for Game 3 of this series and did not play.
Without knowing the full extent of Dosunmu's injury, it's hard to believe he won't at least see how his calf feels in pregame warmups prior to tip-off of Game 6. With the Timberwolves already so shorthanded in their backcourt โ fellow reserve Bones Hyland is also dealing with a new knee injury โ Dosunmu may try to push through his pain so he can be there for his team.
