Sure, why not? The team has a history of taking on players who come with baggage at the most important position in sports.
Cough ... Deshaun Watson ... cough.
So why not Sorsby, who has a been outed in some reports as an individual with a gambling problem who apparently bet on his own team while at Indiana – though he didn’t play in the game he bet on?

However, entering the NFL supplemental draft is an option for a player viewed by many, including draft analyst Todd McShay, as a first-round talent with an ideal quarterback profile. McShay mentions three teams that should consider taking a risk on Sorsby in the supplemental draft if he is forced to enter it. The move would cost a team its 2027 first-round draft choice.
Yes, the Browns are one of them. The other two are the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets.
McShay, on his podcast “The Todd McShay Show,” acknowledged any team that takes the quarterback will need to have a strong support system across the board – coaching, legal, psychological – to ensure the risk pays off.

Bernie Kosar manipulated NFL rules in 1985 to land with his hometown team, the Browns. The Boardman native remains the last most consistently successful quarterback for the team since being cut by Bill Belichick for having “diminished skills” in 1993. The supplemental draft would have likely been more favorably viewed had wide receiver Josh Gordon — who had a lot of spectacular moments with the Browns — been able to conquer his demons. Considering Gordon, who was electrifying on the field, was drafted at the beginning of Jimmy Haslam’s ownership in 2012, it’s easy to infer the team isn’t averse to risk.
Still, with a supposedly bountiful 2027 draft class awaiting, using a pick in the supplemental draft may not be worth it – especially on someone with Sorsby’s profile.
