Is Jordyn Tyson The Pick For The Saints At Number 8?

The New Orleans Saints have held top-30 visits with a few wide receiver prospects, such as Omar Cooper, Jr., K.C. Concepcion, and Carnell Tate. It is a safe bet for the Saints to add a receiver to the evolving Saints offense manned by Tyler Shough. Many people believe it would be Tate to help his fellow OSU alum, Chris Olave, but Jordyn Tyson's name is gaining steam.

Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com has Tyson as the eighth pick for the Saints on draft day.

8. New Orleans Saints: WR Jordyn Tyson, ASU

"There’s always the possibility of the Saints trading up, but such a scenario seems unlikely this year because of the limited number of elite prospects available and the state of the roster in the second year of the Kellen Moore era. My guess is the Saints sit at No. 8 and let the draft fall to them.

In the unlikely event that any of the blue-chippers fall to No. 8, I believe the Saints will stay true to their board and take one of them. But for this exercise, they’re all gone, leaving the Saints with a choice among Tyson, Delane and Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain. You can make a case for all three, especially with the Saints’ need for pass-rush help, but I eliminated Bain because he seems like an odd fit for the Saints’ 3-4 scheme. This choice came down to Tyson and Delane, and it was a difficult decision.

Tyson has emerged as a viable top-10 candidate as the pre-draft process has unfolded, and the Saints have become more comfortable with his well-documented injury history as they have conducted their research on him."

Tyson's injury history was the biggest concern for the receiver, but as teams have dug deeper, they feel comfortable taking the star receiver. Kellen Moore will be able to deploy his receiver duo and wreak havoc on opposing defenses. Both receivers can play anywhere (inside or outside) and have an extensive route tree.
