Is a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua finally on deck?
Fury won his comeback bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov on Sunday, and he immediately looked toward the future by challenging Joshua to a long-awaited fight.
A potential fight between Fury and Joshua was first reported as likely in late 2025, when the Press Association said a bout between the two stars was expected to take place later in 2026. Joshua was involved in a car crash that killed two members of his team just days later, taking boxing out of the forefront of his mind, leaving the possibility of a fight with Fury up in the air.
Here's what you need to know about a potential Fury-Joshua fight after Fury's comeback Sunday.

Fury officially challenged Joshua to a fight after the win over Makhmudov on Sunday. While Joshua's response wasn't definitive by any means, Netflix tweeted what seemed to be confirmation of the fight:
"It's happening," Netflix said, claiming the fight will take place on the streaming platform "this autumn from the UK."
The announcement seems to indicate there is a plan for the two to finally fight later this year, but the interaction between Fury and Joshua leaves at least some doubt. Here's how it went down.

Fury approached Joshua in a public plea after Sunday's fight. "I want to give you all the fight you wanted. I want you, AJ, Anthony Joshua, let’s give the fans what they want," Fury said. "The battle of Britain, my challenge, I challenge you, Anthony Joshua, to fight me next. Do you accept my challenge?"
Despite Netflix's announcement, Joshua expressed some hesitancy. Here's what he had to say.

"Tyson, you are a clout chaser," Joshua said in response. "I've never had a problem getting in the ring with you. I punched you when we were kids. After watching you tonight, I'd do it again. I'll see you in that ring in due time. You won't tell me what to do. When you're ready, you tell me your conditions, and I'll tell you when I'm ready. I'm the boss. You work for me."
While Joshua did say he would get back in the ring against Fury "in due time," he told Fury, "You work for me," seemingly not willing to indulge in the public spectacle of Fury's challenge.
After the challenge, Fury told reporters Joshua "didn't want no smoke."

Netflix says a Fury vs. Joshua fight is set for the fall of 2026. Reports late in 2025 indicated a potential fight might take place in late Summer, so a September target date could still be the reality.
Fury is now 35-2-1 after the win in his comeback on Sunday. He started his career 34-0-1 before back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.
After a comeback win over Makhmudov, Fury is back in the win column and hoping for No. 36 against Joshua.
Joshua is 29-4 in his professional career. He suffered two losses to Usyk just as Fury did, and his most recent blemish was a loss to Daniel Dubois in 2024.
Joshua won a highly-publicized fight with Jake Paul by TKO in December, and he will aim for win No. 30 if the fight with Fury materializes.
The fight is speculated to take place in late 2025 or 2026.
