The NFL Draft is approaching, with Mizzou fans hopeful for Zion Young's potential first-round selection. Six Missouri players are also projected to be drafted in the later rounds.
Today we’re talking about 4/20 the NFL Draft, which starts in a few days. And it could be a fun time to be a Mizzou fan with rooting interest in the NFL.
While only one of Mizzou’s eligible draftees has an outside shot at getting drafted on the first evening – Zion Young has been trending toward Round One for the last few weeks – there are quite a few Tigers on NFL radars this week. The full seven-round mock from NFL.com late last week featured six Missouri names, all ranging from Rounds 3 to 7.
Would it be awesome for Young to go in the first round or two to get Missouri some air time? Of course. But if the main goal of college players is to get themselves to the league, few teams in college football can boast a better record of doing that than the Tigers. Another half a dozen players hearing their names called this weekend would be another feather for Eli Drinkwitz’s cap.
The biggest key for the Tigers right now is clear, they need timely hitting. Mizzou has shown they can get runners on, but the next step is cashing in when it matters. If the offense can start producing in those situational spots, the upcoming series against No. 16 Arkansas could be a real turning point for the season.
Mizzou now sits at .500 on the year. Here’s hoping they don’t let a promising start to the year get away from them.
