Raphinha says he’s suffering in the wake of Barcelona’s Champions League exit at the hands of La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
The Barcelona star has been sidelined since sustaining an injury on international duty with Brazil, meaning he missed the two games against Diego Simeone’s side.
Raphinha was in Madrid to watch the game, and was heavily critical of the referee afterwards, but has now revealed how he’s been finding it really hard sitting on the sidelines and watching.
“It’s one of the hardest feelings of my career seeing my teammates right now and not being able to be on the field battling with them. Being away, prevented from doing what I love most, hurts in a way it’s hard to explain,” he posted on Instagram.
“I’ve suffered every minute like I’m in there, with the constant urge to run, help and give it my all for this team. I am incredibly proud of each of my teammates for what they did to the end.
“Now is the time to recover the body, but the soul is already focused on returning. Stronger, more prepared and even more eager to help this club.
“Because it doesn’t end here. Let’s lift our heads up and fight back together. Because we are the @fcbarcelona 💙❤️”
Recent estimates suggest that Raphinha could return from injury in time for the next Clasico against Real Madrid at Camp Nou in May. With Barcelona nine points clear at the top of the table, there is the chance that a victory in that game could secure the title for Hansi Flick’s side.
