Ja'Kobi Lane, a rookie receiver for the Baltimore Ravens, aims to improve his game by focusing on various aspects like route releases and blocking. His commitment to continuous growth reflects a veteran mindset despite being just 21 years old.
Some players enter the NFL and are content with achieving that one goal. Other players take it a step further and make it their mission to push even harder past that goal. Ja'Kobi Lane is carrying that type of mindset with him into Baltimore with the Ravens.
In a recent article, Steve Rudden highlights Ja'Kobi Lane's assessment for how he can improve as a receiver. Here is what Lane had to say:
âI don't think there's one certain area that I would say more than any other. But, I think the top of the route releases, blocking downfield â they're all areas where I look to get better, as well as just the necessities, like catching the ball and basic route running. I think once you start to prioritize one thing in your game, you kind of lose sight of other things, and that's one thing I don't ever want to do. So, being able to stay loyal to my game and then prioritize everything, I think that's the way I'll still go.â
Ja'Kobi Lane is 21 years old, but he is wise beyond his years. This is the type of quote you get from a veteran, yet it is coming from a player months before his first NFL snap. Lane could easily be content with the type of weapon he already has because that would be good enough for the Baltimore Ravens right now. No, he wants to strive for more, and that mindset will take him a long way.
