Just 20 minutes from Palm Beach International Airport, the private NOKOSI will be Jack Nicklausâ first course design since the Golden Bear reacquired his namesake company he founded after a years-long series of lawsuits. It also will be the first club project to be completed by a newly formed development group led by Gary Nicklaus and the Nicklaus family in partnership with TWG Global, a diversified holding company with stakes in the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers, among several other worldwide sports endeavors.
The 153-acre site was once the home of Sherbrooke Golf & Country Club, which closed about a decade ago. The land had been slated for redevelopment into housing, but those plans never materialized.
âPalm Beach County has been home to our family for close to 60 years, and where Barbara and I have raised our five children, most of our 24 grandchildren, as well as our nine great-grandchildren â with number 10 on the way,â Jack Nicklaus, who has designed more than 300 courses around the world, said in a media release announcing the project. âNOKOSI is very personal to us, because it is inspired and driven by our lifelong commitment to family. It is about creating a place where families can come together around great golf, great friendships and a club culture built to last for generations.â

Nokosi means âbearâ in the Seminole language, and Jack Nicklaus plans to reinvent the site with a course focused on pleasing aesthetics and strategic shot values, the media release said. The facility will include expansive practice facilities and instruction programs, as well as a luxurious clubhouse, event venues, a fitness facility and other amenities.
âWeâre building the kind of club where members donât just come to play golf , they come to spend time, connect and invest in their long-term lifestyle,â Gary Nicklaus, who is overseeing operations and development, said in the media release. âEverything is being designed with the long-term member experience in mind.â
