With the summer coming early once again for the Chicago Blackhawks, that means it’s time to start handing out those final report cards. Chicago Hockey Now gave out end-of-season grades on Friday to eight defensemen and two goaltenders for their individual performances from the 2025-26 regular season.

Frondell isn’t officially on the team just yet, but it would be tough to leave him watching from home after a dominant post-draft season.
More CHN: Speaking of the World Championships, three Blackhawks are expected to suit up for the United States in the tournament. Oliver Moore made it known he was likely heading to Europe during his exit interview, and now two of his teammates in Chicago are set to join him.
In OHL news, Marek Vanacker, Parker Holmes, and the Brantford Bulldogs suffered their first postseason loss on Friday, falling 5-3 to the Barrie Colts to even up the Eastern Conference Championship series 1-1. Vanacker opened the scoring with his seventh goal of the OHL postseason.
In the OHL’s Western Conference Championship, Jack Pridham and the Kitchener Rangers defeated AJ Spellacy and the Windsor Spitfires 4-3 in overtime on Friday to grab a 1-0 series lead. After going the first nine games of the playoffs without a goal, Pridham, the league’s second-leading goal scorer in the regular season, finally found the back of the net in the second period. He now has 11 points in 10 postseason appearances.
Montreal Hockey Now: For the third consecutive game to begin the series, overtime was required between the Habs and Bolts. This time, Lane Hutson was the overtime hero, recording the game-winning goal to give the Montreal Canadiens a 2-1 series lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
NHL.com: The Utah Mammoth claimed victory in the franchise’s first-ever home playoff game, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 to claim a 2-1 advantage in the first-round series. Lawson Crouse scored twice, while Mackenzie Weegar and Dylan Guenther also found the back of the net. Vegas held Utah to only 12 shots on goal, but couldn’t muster up enough offense.
The Athletic: With the game tied 3-3 through 40 minutes, the young Anaheim Ducks scored four goals in the third period to pull away from the Edmonton Oilers and win 7-4 in Game 3. Connor McDavid finally scored his first goal of the playoffs, but the Oilers still find themselves in a 2-1 series deficit. Mikael Granlund led the Ducks to victory with one goal and three assists.

Boston Hockey Now: With the Boston Bruins down 2-1 in the series against the Buffalo Sabres, head coach Marco Sturm is searching for more consistency from the James Hagens, Fraser Minten, and Murat Khusnutdinov trio.
Colorado Hockey Now: After grabbing a 3-0 stranglehold over the Los Angeles Kings, the Colorado Avalanche received a much-needed day off on Friday. That allowed defenseman Josh Manson to heal up from the injury he suffered in Game 3. Manson is questionable for Game 4 out in LA.
Detroit Hockey Now: When GM Steve Yzerman spoke with the media on Thursday, he acknowledged that no current member of the Detroit Red Wings is untouchable in trade talks.
ProHockeyRumors.com: According to Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs are likely down to two candidates for their vacant GM position. The frontrunner is believed to be John Chayka, the former GM of the then-Arizona Coyotes. The other is Dallas Stars assistant GM Scott White, who’s also reportedly in the mix for the Predators GM gig.
