Josh Hines-Allen supports Travis Hunter playing cornerback for the Jaguars, emphasizing the importance of having top players on the field. Hunter's skills could enhance the Jaguars' secondary and pass rush.
Josh Hines-Allen is all for Travis Hunter spending as much time as possible at cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars as possible.
"As a defensive player, I want him on every snap with me to cover as a rusher," Hines-Allen said in an interview with CBS Sports. "Like I would love for him to play corner all the time, personally, because I want my best players on the field at all times."
Hunter brings impressive athleticism and ball skills to the Jaguars' secondary. Having a stingy coverage defender on the back end only helps the pass rush, allowing for additional time to get to the quarterback, turning clean throws into pressures or pressures into sacks.
While nothing is set in stone, it does look like -- as of now -- that Hines-Allen may get his wish. Given the construction of the Jaguars' roster, it would appear that Hunter will slot in as the starting outside cornerback opposite of Montaric Brown.
"I'm going to do everything that I can to help him fulfill whatever the vision that they see him to be," Hines-Allen said.
Hunter, of course, will continue to see opportunities on offense as well, but with Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Jakobi Meyers also at receiver, the need for Hunter is greater on the defensive side of the ball.
'He's just so gifted," Hines-Allen added. "He's that different. Like the way he runs, the way he jumps, the way he moves. ... I would hate to go against him."
GM James Gladstone recently provided a for Hunter's return to the practice field from injury.
Josh Hines-Allen believes that having Travis Hunter at cornerback maximizes the team's defensive potential by ensuring their best players are on the field.
Travis Hunter's athleticism and ball skills could strengthen the Jaguars' secondary, improving coverage and enhancing the effectiveness of the pass rush.
Travis Hunter is expected to start as the outside cornerback opposite Montaric Brown on the Jaguars' roster.
