The Jacksonville Jaguars will be represented by linebacker Paul Posluszny in the 2026 NFL Draft, who will announce a Day 2 pick for the team.
Posluszny began his football career at Penn State University, where he was an elite linebacker. He was a two-time first-team All-American and winner of both the Butkus Award, which honors the best linebacker in college football, and the Bednarik Award, a collegiate award given to the best overall defender, the latter of which he won twice, a rare feat few have accomplished.
He was also named both the College Defensive Player of the Year and Linebacker of the Year in 2005, and finished his college career with 372 total tackles, at the time a Penn State record. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2024.
Though originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2007, Posluszny spent most of his career in Jacksonville. As in college, Posluszny was a highly respected linebacker with great football IQ and leadership both on and off the field. He retired in 2018 with 973 tackles, second in Jaguars history, and still holds the franchise single-season tackle record.
Posluszny also holds the franchise record for most interceptions from a middle linebacker. He earned one Pro Bowl nod and was excellent against both the run and in coverage.
Posluszny retired in 2017 and wrote an emotional letter giving thanks to the team for the years he was able to play, saying he was no longer able to play at the same level he had been known for, so he chose to step down, which he said was the "right and honorable" decision to make.
"The city of Jacksonville and the devoted fans of the Jaguars are simply amazing. Seven years ago, upon arriving in Jacksonville, I received the warmest welcome possible, and Jacksonville has been my home ever since. The dedication and passion the fans display has been inspiring. During a Sunday afternoon in the fall, there is no doubt the collective roar of our enthusiastic fans provides strength for the players," he wrote, concluding, "Today, I would like to thank God for making me a Jacksonville Jaguar, and for allowing me the privilege of an 11-year professional football career."
Paul Posluszny is a former linebacker known for his college accolades, including two Butkus Awards and induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2024.
The exact date for the 2026 NFL Draft has not been specified, but it typically occurs in late April each year.
