Arsenal narrowly defeats Newcastle, Eze shines despite injuries
The Jacksonville Jaguars finalized a trade for cornerback Greg Newsome from the Cleveland Browns during the 2026 NFL Draft. The deal involved a swap of cornerbacks and draft picks, but both players had different outcomes with their new teams.
The Jaguars received cornerback Greg Newsome and a sixth-round pick, while the Browns received cornerback Tyson Campbell and a seventh-round pick.
Greg Newsome struggled with consistency, allowing nearly 70% of passes targeted at him to be completed and recording only one interception during his time with the Jaguars.
The Jaguars traded their sixth-round pick to the Raiders, while the Browns traded their seventh-round pick to the Bears for a sixth-round pick.
Tyson Campbell excelled in Cleveland's defense, becoming a key starter, while Greg Newsome's performance in Jacksonville did not meet expectations.

Newsomeâs inconsistencies remained an issue in Jacksonville, where he allowed nearly 70 percent of passes targeted at him to be completed, along with 11.7 yards per catch. It wasnât a bad season by any means, but it wasnât like his first two seasons in the NFL, which Jacksonville was looking for in the trade. He also had just one pass breakup and one interception after the trade.
Neither team ended up holding on to the pick they received. The Jaguars traded the sixth-rounder they received as a part of the Jakobi Meyers trade, sending both the sixth-rounder and a fourth-rounder to the Las Vegas Raiders. Then, Las Vegas moved the pick to the Buffalo Bills this offseason when acquiring cornerback Taron Johnson and a seventh-round pick. So, the Bills held the No. 182 pick entering the weekend. But they traded it to the Broncos in the first round, and Denver traded it back to the Cleveland Browns. Sunrise, sunset.
Campbell, on the other hand, ended up being a great fit in Jim Schwartzâs defense, and is set to be Clevelandâs No. 2 outside corner opposite Denzel Ward for the future.
The Browns traded away the seventh-rounder they received with Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to the Chicago Bears at the deadline for a sixth-round pick.
Itâs tougher to compare the two cornerbacks and their play after the trade because they played in different defenses, but Jacksonville didnât fare well here. Their gamble for Newsome, who was on the final year of his deal, didnât produce the results they wanted, although Jacksonvilleâs defense remained quite good for most of the year. Newsome ended up walking in free agency, signing a one-year, $10 million deal with the New York Giants. Campbell, on the other hand, seems like a strong fit in Cleveland and a key starter at a premium position. Not to mention, his cap hits for the 2025 and 2026 are very reasonable. While Campbell wasnât the best fit in Jacksonvilleâs new defense, this trade didnât work out great in its favor.
