The biggest question facing every WNBA team in training camp
WNBA training camps open with key questions for each team.
Travis Hunter of the Jacksonville Jaguars has reacted to reports about his playing time for the 2026 season, which suggest he will be a full-time cornerback and part-time wide receiver. He questioned the source of this information in a response on X.
The Jacksonville Jaguars' Travis Hunter has responded to what Ian Rapoport had to say about his playing time for the 2026 season.
Echoing a report from the NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe earlier this offseason, Rapoport described Hunter as a "full-time" cornerback for the upcoming season and a "part-time" wide receiver.
"But when he comes back, and this is something that our Cam Wolfe has told us over the last several weeks," Rapoport said, via Jaguars on SI. "they expect him to be a full-time corner, part-time receiver, which, when you talk to teams last year, that probably was where they thought the value was and really where they thought the production would lie."
Hunter replied to Rapoport's post on X, saying, "Now who told you this?"
How exactly Hunter's playing time will shake out in 2026 remains to be seen, but given the construction of the roster at the moment, it wouldn't be a surprise if he does see more snaps at cornerback than wide receiver.
As of now, Hunter is likely to slot in at the starting cornerback role opposite of Montaric Brown. While on offense, the Jaguars also have Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington at wideout, so the need for Hunter to take on a heavy workload offensively isn't as high as it seems to be on defense.
Regardless, both James Gladstone and Liam Coen have made it clear that the plan is for Hunter to continue playing on both sides of the ball. As the Jaguars have done since drafting Hunter, they will remain fluid and quick to adjust as needed.
Coen recently highlighted how Hunter's practice schedule this year could differ from what it looked like a year ago.
Gladstone would also mention what Hunter's return from injury timeline is expected to look like.
"He'll be, for all intents and purposes," Gladstone said, "a limited participant throughout the offseason program with eyes on return to play at full tick in training camp."
