Veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander posted on Instagram Wednesday night, addressing the mental health battles he faced during his 2025 stint with the Baltimore Ravens.
Alexander, a two-time Pro Bowler who spent seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers before signing with Baltimore, appeared in just two games before the Ravens traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles in November.
He stepped away from football 10 days after that trade without playing a game for Philadelphia. His latest post was the first time he spoke publicly about what was going on internally during that stretch, and it came with a direct thank-you to the Ravens organization for the support they provided through it.
"As much as I loved Baltimore, I didn't love the position I was in," Alexander wrote. "I had a bunch of internal battles with myself. I didn't have that confidence in my abilities I once did. At corner, you need ultimate confidence in your abilities, and I felt it slipping away. It was at this moment I contemplated if I was making the right decision for my career."
Alexander had arrived in Baltimore on a one-year deal worth up to $6 million.
Arthroscopic knee surgery at the end of his final Green Bay season had him missing nearly a month of Baltimore's preseason camp.
"I felt as if I let the organization down," he wrote. "My family and friends would drive up to see me and I wasn't even playing in the games. I never questioned God, but why me?"
