Last week, the Miami Marlins were a team that plenty of people were starting to pay attention to. With their elite pitching staff and solid offensive contributions from some core members, they were within arm's reach of being a top-10 team.
However, last week was not too kind to the Fish. They took two in a four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds, but were swept by the Detroit Tigers over the weekend.
While Sandy Alcantara was on fire to start the season, he had a pretty ugly stat line during his Sunday start. He went six innings, giving up seven runs on 10 hits while only striking out four batters.

Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter was high on the Marlins last week. He had them ranked as the 11th-best team across MLB, but that has changed after a lopsided sweep in Detroit.
He has dropped Miami quite a few spots, ranking them the ninth-worst team, pointing out that Jakob Marsee's slump is not helping the cause whatsoever.
"The Marlins were swept in lopsided fashion over the weekend, as they were outscored 16-3 across three games against the Tigers. After a fantastic second half of the season left him looking like a star on the rise, outfielder Jakob Marsee is hitting .145/.250/.226 with 19 strikeouts in 72 plate appearances."
Marsee is currently looking like a shell of himself, not getting in favorable counts, and putting his back against the wall more than he would like.
Marsee's 19 strikeouts lead the team, and he looks like one of the few Marlins' sluggers stuck in their heads. Luckily for him, it's still pretty early, and he should have more than enough time to figure it out and turn this thing around.
The Miami Marlins dropped in power rankings due to losing a series against the Detroit Tigers and inconsistent performances from key players like Jakob Marsee and Sandy Alcantara.
Jakob Marsee is currently experiencing a slump, contributing to the Marlins' struggles as they face challenges in maintaining their earlier success.
In his last game, Sandy Alcantara pitched six innings, giving up seven runs on ten hits, which significantly impacted the Marlins' performance.
