Jalen Hurts advocates for the return of the white-road version of the Kelly Green-era uniforms for the Philadelphia Eagles. Fans have embraced the recent revival of the Kelly Green ensemble, highlighting its nostalgic significance.
The Philadelphia Eagles brought their Kelly Green ensemble back not too long ago, and honestly, fans have treated that decision like a civic holiday ever since. It brings back so many memories. Randall Cunningham diving over bodies. Reggie White wreaking havoc off the edge. Few alternate uniforms in professional sports generate the same kind of emotional reaction.
The throwback look taps directly into nostalgia, franchise identity, and a version of Eagles football many fans still romanticize. Apparently, Jalen Hurts enjoys the aesthetic as much as everyone else. Recently, in a statement that didn't really take off as it should have, he lobbied for uniform expansion.
During Philadelphia's schedule-release festivities, held via a social media post, Hurts casually floated an idea that many Eagles fans immediately understood. Bring back the white-road version of the Kelly Green-era uniforms. Honestly? He may be onto something.
The Eagles already restored the classic home Kelly Green throwback set, a move that was wildly popular from the moment it became reality. Those uniforms remain among the team's most beloved alternate looks, but if you are already leaning into nostalgia, why stop at home versions?
Philadelphia wore white road jerseys during the Kelly Green era from 1985 through 1995. For longtime fans, those uniforms carry just as much identity as the green versions. A road throwback pairing would feel like the natural next step. Uniform rules exist because, apparently, fun must occasionally be regulated, but few sports leagues understand the point of fan engagement like the NFL.
Philadelphia currently carries four uniform sets: the midnight green home jerseys, standard white road uniforms, black alternates, and Kelly Green throwbacks. League rules also cap the number of full uniform sets teams can rotate. Still, adding a white Kelly Green throwback likely means something else disappears.

What might become the obvious casualty if they did? The black alternates? Some fans might not accept that trade, but that may also depend on who you ask. There is also a timing issue. Any significant uniform addition likely would not arrive until 2027 at the earliest, which coincidentally is when the NFL's new 'Rivalries' uniform initiative also begins.
Still, if Hurts is serious, the conversation has officially begun. Let's be honest. If Eagles fans are given the choice to include more Kelly Green nostalgia, this may not be much of a debate at all. The easiest solution would be for pro football to relax its uniform policy somewhat. Again, this is a game, and fan engagement is important. For now, it's a dream, and only a dream. We'll see what happens down the line.
