The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Thursday that Jalen Williams sustained a Grade 1 left hamstring strain. He will be re-evaluated on a weekly basis.
Williams sustained the injury in OKC's 120-107 Game 2 win over the Phoenix Suns. Accelerating for a fastbreak layup, he awkwardly landed and held the back of his left leg. He toughed out a couple of more possessions before he eventually fouled to check out.
Jalen Williams is expected to be out at least for Games 3 and 4, with weekly evaluations to determine his recovery.

Spending a few moments on the Thunder bench, Williams eventually exited through the tunnel. A little over 12 hours later, we now know Williams will miss at least Games 3 and 4 against the Suns. And maybe more beyond that.
Just a brutal development. Williams was OKC's best playoff player through the six quarters of their hopeful back-to-back journey. He had 19 points and four assists before the injury. This is the 25-year-old's third hamstring strain in four months. The other two were on his right leg and occurred on Jan. 17 and Feb. 11.
Well, the Thunder are back to playing without their All-NBA player. They should sadly be used to it by now. Williams only played in 33 regular-season games as two wrist surgeries and two hamstring strains sidelined him for most of the year. They should still take care of business against the Suns, but they're playing with fire beyond that in the NBA playoffs as the competition level upgrades.
