Jared Bednar, head coach of the Colorado Avalanche, will miss the upcoming road trip due to facial fractures and a corneal abrasion after being struck by a puck. He is expected to make a full recovery without surgery.
The team also recalled defenseman Jack Ahcan to take on the road. Avalanche blueliner Josh Manson left Saturday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return. Ahcan will likely slot in for Manson unless Cale Makar is able to dress in one of the games. It’s unclear as of Sunday afternoon whether Manson’s absence was precautionary or serious. The 34-year-old defenseman has played all 79 games to date, which is the most he’s had since 2017-18. He has five goals and 31 points, and a career-high +42 rating.
