Jared Verse supports the Los Angeles Rams' pick of Ty Simpson, calling it a 'perfect situation' for the rookie quarterback. He believes Simpson will benefit greatly from learning under coach Sean McVay and veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford.

âHe can run the ball, get through all that good stuff that all these quarterbacks in the league usually can do. The way heâs accurate, the way heâs able to have confidence in the throws he makes, the things that he does â heâs confident in his abilities. Thatâs just a credit to the hard work that he puts in.â Verse is correct in that Simpson is in the perfect spot because he will learn a lot from McVay. Now, McVay hasnât exactly developed a young quarterback from scratch. Heâs instead fixed some QBs as a reclamation project, most notably a second-year and in his brief stint with L.A. This is somewhat uncharted territory for the Rams coach, yet donât think heâll be ill-equipped for this new challenge. Both McVay and Simpson possess incredible football IQs and recall, so something tells me that theyâll get along just fine. Stafford, meanwhile, has never been in the position of being a âlame duckâ quarterback. Meaning, this is the first time an organization heâs been a part of has drafted his successor and put a timer on the rest of his time with the team. Well, you play long enough, and eventually thatâs going to happen, even if Staffordâs coming off the best season of his career. Even then, the veteran will ultimately prove to be a positive role model and teacher for the first-year QB, as heâs never been one to cause drama in his NFL career.
Jared Verse believes Ty Simpson is in a perfect situation because he will learn from coach Sean McVay and veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, both of whom have high football IQs.
Matthew Stafford is expected to be a positive role model and mentor for Ty Simpson, helping him navigate his first year in the NFL.
Sean McVay has primarily worked on fixing quarterbacks like Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield, rather than developing them from scratch.

Despite all the praise for Simpson, Verse has all the love for the reigning MVP, whom he called the âsmartest playerâ heâs ever been around:
âHe can do whatever he wants. That dude is the smartest human being Iâve ever been around â or one of the smartest human beings â when it comes to football and everything.â Whether or not Simpson becomes the Ramsâ future at the position remains to be seen. If Verse is right, there is no better place for him to find out than L.A., with the combination of McVayâs system and Staffordâs mentorship.
