The Boston Celtics once held a 3-1 lead over the Philadelphia 76ers, but failed to put the series away. They will now play Game 7 on Saturday night, and Jayson Tatum provided a positive outlook.
Obviously, the Celtics would prefer to have won either Game 5 or 6 and locked in their spot in the next round. However, the 76ers have rallied. Tatum, who missed most of the season, was asked whether he was "bummed" about having to play in Game 7 after the Game 6 loss.
"Bummed to say it's going to game 7? No, I'm not bummed," Tatum said. "I was out for 50 weeks. I wasn't able to play basketball. I get another opportunity to play the game that I love that I had to be sidelined for 10 and a half months. Obviously, you want to win every game you play, but it doesn't always go like that. Moreso, I'm just kind of thankful we have another opportunity. We have another chance to make it right."
Tatum's status for Game 7 will be something to monitor. He exited the game early and was seen wearing a wrap around his left leg. Notably, it's not the same leg in which he tore his Achilles tendon last season. He noted that he is not too concerned, and it seems like the Celtics will have him available for Game 7.
Tatum is averaging 23.3 points in this series, and the Celtics will need him if they want to advance. Even though they have made it tougher on themselves, they are not done yet, as Tatum noted.
