Alex Pereira could make history at UFC Freedom 250 next month, with Ciryl Gane standing between him and another remarkable achievement.
The Brazilian can become the first three-weight champion in UFC history, even though the belt on the line against the Frenchman is the interim heavyweight title.
That possibility has intensified debate around Pereira’s legacy, and fellow Brazilian Jean Silva believes the GOAT case is already extremely strong.

The UFC featherweight contender used X to explain why Pereira’s career already stands apart from most names in the promotion’s history.
He pointed to six specific factors, including availability, professionalism, activity and the possibility of another belt at UFC Freedom 250.
“Never ducked anyone, never missed weight (even in kickboxing), never pulled out, fought (while champion) 2 times on short notice. Fastest 3 defenses in the UFC. And then triple champ? Hard to beat that,” ‘Lord’ wrote.
It is a strong argument because Pereira’s greatness is not built only on titles, but also in the way he has handled every challenge.
Few champions have combined risk, activity and discipline like Pereira, especially while accepting dangerous fights with limited preparation time.
Pereira only debuted in the UFC in 2021, when he was already 34, which makes the speed of his rise even more unusual.
That late start led some fans and analysts to underestimate his ceiling, but his résumé has quickly become one of the sport’s most respected.
