The idea is not framed as reporting, but as Teague thinking through how Golden State could make one last aggressive swing.
That is what makes Joel Embiid the name in the middle of the discussion. He would be a massive gamble, but also the kind of star who could change the Warriorsâ ceiling quickly.

On an episode of the Club 520 Podcast, Jeff Teague floated the idea of Golden State using Draymond Green in a package for Joel Embiid.
âTheyâre going to trade Draymond. This is just me thinking out loud. Theyâre gonna trade Draymond and somebody else. Go for Embiid, bro. Iâm thinking youâve got to make a splash,â Teague said.

He added, âYou canât get Giannis. You canât get Kawhi. Youâve got to get somebody who is effective for Steph.â
Teagueâs logic is built around urgency. Curryâs title window is not endless, and the Warriors need more than a small adjustment if they want to become a serious championship threat again.
Embiid would give Golden State a dominant interior scorer, a former MVP, and a completely different offensive pressure point next to Curry.
Greenâs contract also makes him a natural name in these conversations because his salary can help match money in a major trade.
The problem is obvious. Embiid is not just expensive; he is also one of the leagueâs biggest health questions.
He is tied to a massive long-term contract and has dealt with repeated injury issues, including recent playoff setbacks that again raised questions about his durability.
That is why Teagueâs idea sounds exciting and dangerous at the same time. A healthy Embiid with Curry would be terrifying for opponents.
But if Embiid cannot stay on the floor, Golden State could sacrifice Green, assets, flexibility, and chemistry for a star who may not be available when it matters most.
The Philadelphia side also matters. The 76ers would have to decide whether moving Embiid is the start of a reset around Tyrese Maxey and younger pieces.
For now, Teagueâs proposal is speculation, not a confirmed trade plan. Still, it captures the Warriorsâ dilemma clearly: play it safe around Curry, or chase one last huge swing before the window closes.
