SOUTH BEND — Whatever team takes former Notre Dame football star Jeremiyah Love near the top of the 2026 NFL Draft, he vows to make this a most memorable occasion in franchise history.
“I’ve learned that it takes consistency, discipline,” the running back said at Notre Dame’s Pro Day in March. “Once you get to the league, don’t change who you are. A lot of times, guys get to the league and they’re (thinking), ‘I made it.’ No, you haven’t made it. You haven’t made it past your first contract. You have to get to that.”
With Love projected to go in the top five on Thursday night, April 23, in downtown Pittsburgh, he’s looking at a rookie contract covering four years and totaling somewhere north of $45.6 million. That would be his haul should the New York Giants take him fifth overall.
Should it be the Tennessee Titans at No. 4, the projected value, according to Spotrac.com, goes to $48.7 million. And if it’s the Arizona Cardinals at No. 3 overall, Love would be looking at $50.5 million on his first deal.
“Me, I want get to my third contract,” he said. “When I get to my third contract and that’s over — and shoot, one day I hope I got my gold jacket, I’ve made the Pro Bowl hopefully five-plus years — then I’ll think I’ve had some type of success.”

At Notre Dame, Love counted as teammates the likes of Bryce Young and Jerome Bettis Jr., both sons of Pro Football Hall of Famers who starred for the Irish in the early 1990s. Although he doesn’t turn 21 until May 31, Love doesn’t hold back when prospective employers ask him about his career vision.
“Oh, yeah, I tell them I want to be one of the best of all time,” he said on March 24. “I want to be a Hall of Famer, I want to be a Pro Bowler my very first year. I want to win offensive rookie of the year. I tell them all these goals that I have.”
Coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons at Notre Dame, Love sounds determined to live up to the pre-draft hype, even as he publicly raises expectations for himself.
“Obviously, these are goals,” he said. “Goals are goals, but you have to have a process for how you want to achieve those things. I’ll go into every season and set out little goals per week, what I can do to make sure I’m reaching the bigger goal that I have.”
After taking the Irish to a runner-up finish in the College Football Playoff as a sophomore, Love speaks openly of wanting to win multiple Super Bowls.
“I’ve told all these teams this,” he said. “It’s a lot of big talk, but I have a process and I have a plan for how I’m going to do that.”
Asked what NFL scouts and decision makers should know about him that isn’t apparent on the field, Love smiled.
“I’m a pretty simple guy,” he said. “You draft me, I’m not doing too much of nothing other than football. Outside of football, I’ll go out here and there. But I’m the type of guy, my perfect day after a game (is) go on home, play video games, talk to whoever I want to talk to and watch anime.
“You’re going to get strictly a football player with me, which is what you want. It’s going to be my job, so I’m going to take it very seriously and I’m going to give you my all and I’m not going to cause any type of trouble.”
