The New York Jets made a lot of additions this offseason, with a lot of focus on improving Aaron Glenn's defense.
Their No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft was spent on David Bailey, an edge rusher out of Texas Tech who had 14.5 sacks this past season.
Now, with Bailey on the roster, the question becomes where he will line up for Glenn's defense in his rookie season. CBS Sports' Carter Bahns shared Glenn's plan for Bailey in 2026.
"Aaron Glenn said the Jets will play a 3-4 base defense with No. 2 overall pick David Bailey at outside linebacker," Bahns writes. "He will also 'absolutely' play together with edge rusher Will McDonald."
Glenn is planning to start Bailey as one of the Jets' outside linebackers in a 3-4 defense, and will be using him right away in the defense.
With Glenn already essentially naming Bailey a starter at outside linebacker, there is a lot for fans to get excited about this preseason.
Sometimes, like what's expected to happen with first overall pick Fernando Mendoza, a team will start a different player instead of the rookie to begin the season, as the rookie gets up to speed.

That's not going to be the case with Bailey, as Glenn is throwing him right to the wolves and will give the Texas Tech edge rusher a chance to play right away.
Will McDonald and Bailey will form the Jets' starting outside linebacker duo. There are far worse pass-rusher duos around the NFL, as the Jets' No. 2 pick and McDonald (a first-rounder a few years ago) is a promising young duo.
