The New York Jets appear to have a decision to make between two players with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
As expected, according to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, the Jets will decide between two players: Texas Tech's David Bailey or Ohio State's Arvell Reese.
And, Jones goes on to note that among his sources and teams around the NFL, the expectation is Bailey will be the pick.
"I can't say with absolute confidence who the New York Jets will draft at No. 2 overall next week, but sources say the pick will either be David Bailey or Arvell Reese. And most of the league -- and my sources -- believe the Jets will land on Bailey," Jones said.
The belief in league circles is that Bailey is someone who can make an immediate impact, but Reese has the higher ceiling.
"Bailey is the surest one but Arvell is gonna be a star," an unnamed defensive coordinator said to Jones.

Let's get one thing straight: both players are going to be very good, and the Jets don't necessarily need someone who can make an immediate impact because of their status as a rebuilding team.
The top candidates are David Bailey from Texas Tech and Arvell Reese from Ohio State.
Most sources expect the Jets to select David Bailey with the No. 2 overall pick.
David Bailey plays as a wide receiver for Texas Tech.

But New York's head coach, Aaron Glenn, is already feeling his seat warming up after an embarrassing 2025 campaign that showed zero competitiveness out of the Jets. We could see him wanting the quick fix in Bailey, who lit up the college scene with 14.5 sacks.
Reese might have the higher ceiling, but he's also more risky because of his status as a "tweener," which means he could play inside or outside linebacker. Most are expecting him to play the latter, but we can't say for sure until he gets to the NFL.
Either way, the Jets should be fine, but right now it looks like Bailey will be the pick.
