The New York Jets own the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. With that selection, the odds that the Jets select an edge rusher are incredibly high.
There are two names to keep in mind with this pick: Ohio State's Arvell Reese and Texas Tech's David Bailey. There likely isn't another player remotely as in play for this selection than these two edge rushers.
Ahead of this pick being made, the Jets got a recent prediction from ESPN's Seth Walder on which player is more likely than the other. According to this prediction, the Jets have a 64% chance of selecting Reese compared to just a 28% chance for Bailey.
"Who will be the No. 2 pick (presumably by the Jets)?" Walder writes. "The Predictor leans Reese (64%) over Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey (28%)."
While rumors over the past week have flip-flopped between the Jets going for Reese or Bailey, there is seemingly a frontrunner, according to this prediction from ESPN.
According to ESPN's The Predictor, which is a model that combines "expert mock drafts, Scouts Inc. grades and team needs to predict the full range of selection outcomes for top prospects."
For the No. 2 pick, the Jets seemingly have a 64% chance of landing on Reese as their pick. This isn't too much of a surprise in the Reese vs. Bailey debate.

While Bailey has often been described as the safer pick, Reese's upside is something the Jets can't afford to miss out on. If Reese lands on a different team and thrives, the Jets will not look good at all.

Reese had 6.5 sacks last season for Ohio State, and Bailey had 14.5 sacks for Texas Tech. Bailey is a full-time edge rusher, while Reese will just be transitioning to the position this year after acting as an off-ball linebacker for much of his college career.
However, ESPN's Predictor has the Jets much more likely to pick Reese with the second-overall pick. The upside is incredibly appealing, as he could be the next Abdul Carter or Micah Parsons if he can reach his ceiling.
